Most interesting music videos

What’s your favorite music video?

Of course Drake and Rihanna broke the internet with their music video for ‘Work‘, so did Justin Bieber with his several singles such as Let Me Love You and Frank Ocean finally made his comeback, but they’re plenty of others interesting and well made music videos out there that need to be watched and analyzed.

M.I.A – P.O.W.A

The English-Tamil singer and rapper is known for her political statements and for her work and actions as an activist. She previously made a video called Borders that shows the journey of refugees, she then posted “The world I talked about 10 years ago is still the same” on twitter. She  released her new music video ‘Powa’ about a week ago, and once again, it contains a powerful political message ‘Throw up my finger and I’m taking on a tower‘ she is obviously referencing to Donald Trump’s Tower in this line. She also calls out different pop stars singers ‘I’m not Rihanna, I’m not Madonna, I’m not Mariah or Ariana‘.

Tame Impala – The Less I Know The Better

The Less I Know The Better is one of the singles of the album ‘Currents‘. It shows a love triangle between two students : a cheerleader and a basketball player. Cliche right. But wait, we’re getting there. All of a sudden, the lovely cheerleader stars to hook up with a gorilla called Trevor and the poor basketball player gets his heart broken.
This video is very sexual with a lot of references to sex but also very psychedelic and aesthetically pleasing with an interesting conception and mix of colors.

A$AP Mob – Money Man ft. A$AP Rocky & Skepta

A$AP Mob released a film which contains 2 tracks of A$AP Rocky’s future album. It was shot in 3 days in the RedBull studios in Northwest London. The movie is well structured. The storyline is pretty simple to understand, there’s the Money Man, played by the french actor Saïd Taghmaoui known for his role in the french film La Haine, and there’s A$AP Rocky, who fell in love with the Money Man’s daughter.

We don’t know the date of his album release yet, but he tweeted a video last month and we. can’t. wait.

Katy Perry – Chained To The Rythm

Even if you’re not a big fan of Katy Perry, you need to watch this video. The 32 years old singer released her new video today, on the 21th February and I think it’s the best music video of her so far. She released a lyric video but also a trailer video about the theme park ‘Oblivia‘ (Oblivious + Utopia), where the scene takes place in the original video. This metaphorical and futuristic-idealistic video denounces many causes. Many issues are represented in this video : sexism, racism, and it has a strong political message. The song itself is pretty catchy and it gathers all the elements of a basic pop song, and you have to listen to the lyrics to really understand the meaning behind it. The title is self-explanatory, we’re all ‘Chained To The Rythm‘, nowadays it seems pretty hard to appreciate things.

Tupac – I Get Around

‘I Get Around’ is the 14th track of the album Strictly for My N.I.G.G.A.Z and it might be one of the best music video ever made. It is just so simple : girls, money, big mansion, drinks but also really effective. There’s a Tupac smiling throughout the whole 4 minutes. Even if almost every Tupac songs are classic, this one definitely stands out for me.
R.I.P Tupac.

Young Thug – Wyclef Jean

This is the best failed music video ever. I am not longer afraid to say that the Young Thug (and his whole team) are pure genius. The video costed 100.000$ but that’s not the main important point. Young Thug was supposed to appear in his video but.. he was 10 hours late.. but he actually never showed up. The subtitles help us to understand the whole situation. And I’m quite glad he never showed up after all.
